About Us
Stolen Generations Victoria Ltd was incorporated on the 17th June 2005. This organisation has been established as a result of recommendations arising from the Stolen Generations Taskforce Report of April 2003 commissioned by the Victorian Government. The Taskforce identified the need for an independent, community controlled Stolen Generations Organisation for Victoria.
Also the 1987 Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody and the 1995 National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from their Families clearly indicated that culturally appropriate services and programs were needed to address the specific needs of the Stolen Generations.
This Organisation plans to establish a range of support and referral services over the next 12 months that will assist stolen generation peoples to reconnect with their family, community, culture and land. We have opened our office at 34 Wurruk Avenue, Preston and we plan to employ a number of staff by the end of October this year.
